Person Portrait

This is a photo of my grandfather. He was one of the people I chose to take photos of, and he was such a great model. :)  My grandpa means the world to me, and he's really a funny guy. This photo is of him doing what he does best. Whenever he reads the newspaper, he's usually asleep within five minutes. I had a lot of fun doing this project with him! The thing that I would change about this photo is I could are the three light blue-ish lines. I'm not sure what this indicates, or what went wrong. It may have been how I developed, and so I need to make sure to do everything even more precise than I always do. All in all, this was a great project and I had a lot of fun doing it with my grandpa!

Film- Franklin

This photo came from my very first roll of film. It was taken place at The University of Washington at my friend's college gymnastics meet. He is one of four guys on his team, and each of them have worked very hard to get where they are today. My friend, Franklin, is flipping off the vault in this photo. I was really disappointed when I developed this photo and found it to be blurry. The reason for this is because I should have set the shutter speed for much faster because he was flipping so fast. Also, the camera decided to record my movement as well as his, so that affected the photo as well. If I could retake this shot, I would definitely change the settings on my camera. Maybe next time!

INTEGRITY alphabets

This is my alphabet project. I went all around my street taking photos, and that is where most of them came from. I chose the word "integrity" to upload because of the meaning behind it to me. Integrity is something that I have and take very seriously, so I thought it'd be neat to make that my word. When I was looking for letters to capture, it really opened up my mind as to certain things in the world. Even my mom noticed this change, because she helped me find all twenty-four letters. I wouldn't do this project over, because I like what I came out with, but I would definitely add to it, having more than one letter of the alphabet out of worldly things. I'm happy with this project and had a lot of fun with it!

This was the last pinhole photo that I captured. This was also taken outside, so the shutter speed was just one second. This is outside our school and you can just see the American Flag off to the left. When I peeled the tape off the hole I didn't realize my can too high up, so if I were to redo it, I would make sure I had more of the school and such in the photo. Still, I really like this.

This photo was taken outside also using a pinhole camera. Because the light from the outside air is so much brighter, the shutter speed was a lot less. I exposed the hole for about one second, and that turned out to be enough. I may want it a little longer next time, just because when I inverted it it turned out pretty dark. I also need to remember to write my name on the back of my photos when developing so that it doesn't show up. Next time when I invert I'd like to lighten my photo up a bit. Out of these, I like the negative best!

This was our very first project. When using the pinhole camera, as we did, we used a shutter speed of two minutes and thirty-six seconds. This allows the photo to form completely on the inside of the cans we used as the camera. I sat in front of my can, staring, trying to stay as still as possible. If I could do this over I would center myself, and try to stay even stiller. It's very hard as a human to stay completely still. All in all, I am happy with how my first photo of the semester turned out!
